90s

Not to start a habit about discussing hair trends here- but I did come across a film earlier starring a young Hugh Grant and suddenly felt a rush of loveeee for 90s style. Not sure that others will appreciate the long man bob he's sporting as much as I do, but I REALLY do. The glasses in the first photo (Four Weddings and a Funeral, 1994) are very 'American Apparel', and the other (9 Months, 1995) shows Grant wearing a loosely fitting suit, which to me, is so reminiscent of that whole era.

Ombré Hair

Ombré // DipDye // Two-Tone // hair is STILL the instant (hair) style update this season, Spring/Summer 2011.
I remember when I first noticed it last year and thought it was just the dreaded ''roots!!!'' phase of growing out your hair, but at a length that looked acceptable and cool. This trend works better with longer hair, in my opinion- I saw some photos of Alexa Chung's two tone locks, but with her cropped style I think it just emphasizes its lack of length rather than complements for the classic cut it is.
I'm not sure if I like Barrymore's version... I can't decide if I think it looks too intentional, almost seperate colours. -So, subtle works best, as it gives a more blended, sun-kissed effect. Whitney Port, bravo.

Summer Vogue

Penélope Cruz just ooooozes beauty on the cover of this June's Vogue US- (shot by Mario Testino). The natural beauty and sunkissed skin really gets me in the mood for summer! I'm sure it's been said before, but the one piece looks like it was just MADE for Cruz, she looks so fresh, feminine and elegant!
I've always said I prefer swimsuits to bikini's and to me, this picture captures exactly why.

Chunky&&Clunky

 Prada SS11
Topshop
 Miu Miu SS11
Urban Outfitters

I'm really loving all the chunky sandals for SS11. -Not that I've seen the weather for them here yet, what with the constant threat of dull clouds and the storm of hailstones the other day. Heres some of my fav's from Prada & Miu Miu and the high street's Topshop and Urban Outfitters.

Prada's laced-up shoes in white are slightly reminiscent of a nurse's uniform, but I think this season, the whole collection is a bit geek-chic. -The lookbook, Real Fantasies, I picked up in Milan is really amazing, which not only shows the collection, but is a work of art in itself. Check it out, in video version here.

P O É S Y, clémence

Flicking through Vogue from April 2010...Clémence Poésy. Effortless, classic, chic. You don't even have to recognise her to know this is à la française!

Balenciaga Boots

SS/11 Balenciaga cut-out boots. I'm not crazy about Doc Martens or anything too punk, but these shoes have got me. Can't. Get. Enough.
Mary Kate, looks amazing in these boots! But...ditch the coat. Anything reminiscent of a gorilla, doesn't really flatter now, does it.

The One and Only...

It would appear that Kate Moss is one busy woman! (not that i was ever doubting that she was...) She graces the cover of Vogue Paris, Japan and Brazil and Harper's Bazaar's May issues, 2011.

I confess, having been completely indifferent to the considered 'style icon' in recent years and most certainly not one to exhibit any symptoms suggesting a case of Kate Moss fever, I actually love her now. Yes, I admit, I now have a style crush on Mossy and I wouldn't mind to have those cheekbones either! I'm fascinated that every picture of her seems to casually say 'What? I just woke up and threw this on.' - and even with her bum out on Vogue Brasil, she looks comfortable, as if its just another day, naked. Actually, it probably is.

I recently came across 'Kate Moss by Mario Testino', a book which offers a peek into more personal pictures of the lady herself, all taken by infamous fashion photographer, and close friend to the model, Testino. Its available in Urban Outfitters, but be warned, it may convert any non-Kate fans & also I'll think your a bit of a stalker.
